Eric Houle

Eric Houle has been named Mid-Continent Conference Coach of the Year a combined 20 times in cross country and track and field, transforming Southern Utah University into a nationally-respected program in his 13 years at the helm. SUU has won 23 of 42 Mid-Con championships competed for since joining the league in 1997-98, including a dual conference "Triple Crown" sweep of the men's and women's cross country and indoor and outdoor track titles this past season. In addition, Houle has coached literally hundreds of all-conference athletes and individual conference champions. In 1999, he was named Region Coach of the Year after guiding the Thunderbird men to their first-ever NCAA Mountain Region Cross Country Championship, knocking off four other nationally-ranked teams, a feat no other collegiate team in Utah has accomplished to date. Houle began his head coaching career in 1982 at Salt Lake City's Judge Memorial High School. He and his wife Diane have two children.
