Matt Cannon

Few NCAA athletes have achieved such outstanding success both on and off the playing field as has Matt Cannon. In addition, he holds over 20 SUU individual records. All of this was accomplished while maintaining a 3.95 GPA and serving in Student Leadership positions. Upon graduation, Matt played professional football for the Hamburg Blue Devils of the German Football league and was named the most valuable player of the 2001 German Bowl championship game. He returned to Utah in 2002 to work as an aide to Governor Michael O. Leavitt. He is the son of Tom and Gayle Cannon of Salt Lake City, the husband of Jennie Udall Cannon and the proud father of Abigail Rose Cannon.
